Mo And Me is Three

9:37am: Update
So awhile ago I got a nudge to update and I've been leaving it in my email so I actually do it. Guess I'm not so good at this live journal thing. A couple of major holidays have come and gone. I was happy to see them come and happy to see them go. The best part about the holidays for the past few years is the amount of time that Allison and I get to spend together. This year we got to spend even more! She flew in on Chrismtmas and left a couple of weeks into January and then with Martin Luther King day off, I went up there for one weekend and then took off a couple of days to go up another time. A weekend after that Allison had some time off, so she came back to Pittsburgh again! For the first time ever, we may have spent more days together in a month than apart. What a great thing that is! (OH, and that last visit was superbowl weekend, so Allison got to experience Steeler fans at the height of Steeler frenzy. Quite a sight.)

So, we have this whole wedding thing to plan. We picked a place that does a lot of the stuff for us which, I must say, was a stroke of brilliance. Even still, there is a lot we have to do. In addition to that I started taking online classes at the end of January. I'm in Accounting right now and I like it, but it's SO much work. It's pretty much all I do during the evenings. Last weekend I spent 5 hours on Saturday working on 1.5 of my 2 homework assignments! Crazy. My recent obsession with CSI isn't helping my studying as Spike TV plays two episodes (at 7 and 8) every night. Fortunately, years of practice in high school allows me to study in front of the tv pretty well. It slows me down a smidge, but I still absorb the content.

My parents are in Myrtle Beach for the month, which is nice. For them and for me too. For me because my mom and I have been hanging out on Sundays since last summer. It's really nice to see her every week, and I enjoy it, but since they're down there I'll be able to focus more on homework for awhile. I'm hoping to work ahead of the syllabus so I can take time off when Allison comes to visit in March. Especially since my instructor doesn't really understand that break is supposed to be, you know, a break from work. Usually our assignments run one chapter per week. Even though she has our break marked on the syllabus as break, she just pushed that chapter into 3 days that week instead of the full week. Not exactly a break.

1:15pm: Thanksgiving
It doesn't really feel like Thanksgiving. It feels more like a weekend visit or something. It's been a few years since Alan and Sarah have been home for Thanksgiving, and a few since Allison wasn't home for Thanksgiving, so that's probably why. We're going to have a small group at Nan's this year, only 12. In year's past it's been 20 or 30.

So, it's day one of the Mo and Daisy show. Daisy is a very docile dog. I really don't think she'd hurt Mo, but Mo isn't about to get anywhere near her. I feel bad for both of them. Daisy is acutally more afraid than Mo is. When they first "met" this morning Daisy was actually shaking. (She's about 50 lbs to Mo's 11 if you were wondering.) But, poor Mo has been letting out this awful noise that I've never heard from her before. It's sort of a cross between a moan, a cry, and a growl. When Daisy's not in the room, she'll come out and lie down as usual, but as soon as Daisy comes in, it's under the couch and moaning. Oh, and Mo has hissed more today that she has in all of the time that I've had her. The first time she hissed was when I accidentally stepped on her tail, so she had every right to do so. The second time she hissed was when I disassembled my computer speakers one time. I don't get it either, but those speakers really freked her out. Before today, that was it.

Anyway, last night after I arrived in Butler, Mom made some dinner for the two of us. Dad was out bowling and he got home about the time we finished dinner. After that we watched some tv (I got to watch Veronica Mars!). Finally around 11 I went up to bed and got to talk to Allison :-) cuz that's when she called. From the sounds of it, Alan and Sara and Daisy rolled in around 12:30. They hit some bad snow driving up from Maryland. They were going about 20 mpg on the highway at one point. I'm glad that I left when I did too, the roads did get kinda bad last night. When I was driving around 5, they were snow covered and people were going pretty slowly.

Mo and I got up around 8 today. I knew that Alan and Sara would be up later, so I figured giving Mo some alone time to chill would be a good thing. It was just my mom and me for awhile. Then Dad, Alan, and Sarah in that order. Mom made the best French toast. She made it with cinnamon and nutmeg (which she usually doesn't do) and then she used some type of cinnamon bread too. It was the bomb!

Well, it's cold in the basement, and I'm still a little hungry, so I'm going to grab a bite to eat before we head over to Nan's for dinner.

8:08am: Working when everyone else is off, isn't so bad. It can get a bit boring, but I like it because there's less traffic and more of a chance to catch up on things you've been putting off. Between September and December is the busiest time of year for me. We have a lot of yearly-type notifications that go out and because my system has so many different areas and prices, I have two or three times as many versions of things to manage as other people in the company. With my co-worker quitting in October, I had a few extra things to worry about this year. Anyway, with that stuff going on, it's easy to get behind on other things, so it's nice to have some quiet time in the office to catch up.

My shirt smells different today than usual. I think it's a combination of my scented lotion and my detergent/fabric softener.

So, tonight I'll head up to Butler for the big Thanksgiving festivities. Alan and Sarah are coming in with Daisy so it'll be the first time the "grandpets" meet each other. I'm a little concerned because I think it's going to freak Mo out. Everyone says that Daisy is a really nice laid-back dog, but she's still a LOT bigger than Mo is. And, knowing there's a little pit bull in her unnerves me. If they're both left at my parent's house tomorrow while we're at Nan's, I'll probably put Mo in "my" bedroom (really it's my mom's art room plus a futon). If something happened while we were gone, I wouldn't be able to handle it. I guess this will be a good rehearsal for Christmas when Allison and I will be at my parent's for a longer period of time.
